Match reports
Today [sun 26th Sept] we played our first game against Brigg Utd.
Due to a mix up we arrived an hour before we needed to,it was raining heavily but the boys showed what a great group they are by being patient and keeping themselves ready for the game.
We didn’t get off to a great start, going 1-0 down in the first few minutes, this though seemed to wake the boys up as we scored an equalizer just before half time.[oliver] We went into the break at 1-1.
We made a change at half time. Sam who had done great in the goal in the first half changed places with Henry who had had a great first half in midfield. We started the second half strongly, oliver scored his second after a great move involving Josh, Mason and Jack. Straight from the restart Adam intercepted a pass from the Brigg forward, he played it to Aiden who went on a great run then slotted the ball through to Oliver who scored his hatrick from close range.
Brigg atacked from the restart and had a good shot well saved by Henry. Henry kicked the ball out to Josh who passed to Mason who went on a great run dodging a few tackles before losing the ball,
Jack won the ball back passed to Josh who played a ball into the six yard box for the poacher[oliver] to score his fourth and Broughton Ravers U6 fourth goal. You could tell how much the boys were enjoying the game by their celebrations after this goal. We made a swap before the restart, Aiden who had had a great game making way for the very excited Brett. For the next 5 or so mins the game was end to end, both teams were playing good skilfull football. With five mins to go Brigg scored their second goal and after a further 3 mins they scored their 3rd goal. At this point many of us parents were expecting us to concede again as we were looking very tired and our more experienced hosts were looking strong.
Credit to the boys they dug deep and went on the attack having several corners in the last few mins. The final whistle went and we had won our first game!
Well done boys, as a team we’ve only been together for a few weeks, the lads from Scawby school and the lads from Broughton school worked really hard for themselves and each other they were a credit to their parents not only for the way they played on the pitch but also how they behaved off it. Well done boys and thank you parents.
