The Ravers played some of their best football of the season today to see off Bottesford and clinch the league title for the third successive year.
Some of the girls were a bit nervous before the start of today’s title decider but it didn’t take long for the Ravers to get in front. Jodie opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a nice finish from one of Katie’s crosses into the box.
Ten minutes later Misha smashed the ball into the back of the Bottesford net to make it 2-0 and from then on it was one way traffic.
The Ravers were calm, played some attractive passing football and they dominated in all areas of the pitch.
Lauren, Alex and Leah were rock solid in defence and Louise scooped up the occasional ball that strayed into the Ravers penalty area. Macey, Jodie, Hollie and Katie controlled the midfield and Chloe constantly harried the Bottesford defence.
I’m not one for stats but..
In the league: P16 W13 D2 L1. Goals for 82, goals conceded 10.
In the cup - P6, W5, L1. Goals for 19, goals conceded 5
Overall: P22, W18, D2, L2. Goals for 101, against 15 – a goal difference of +86.
More importantly, the girls have had a lot of fun and they’re definitely looking forward to next season and winning their fourth consecutive league title
