Press Release – Lincolnshire County FA RESPECT awards season 2010/11

This year’s winners of the County FA Respect awards are Broughton Ravers JFC (Girls) and Caistor Crusaders U.16’s (boys). They will receive their awards at the Lincolnshire Senior cup final on Tuesday 2nd August at Sincil Bank at half time during the Lincoln City and Grimsby Town game.

The County respect award is recognition for the high standards of behaviour displayed in the game within the county.

Both clubs have worked hard and campaigned to improve the game and have displayed the necessary behaviours that ensure the young players and spectators enjoy the game in the right environment.

They have been proactive in encouraging players, coaches and spectators, set high standards of behaviour and have dealt positively with poor conduct and both value the important job of refereeing.

Steve Watson, Broughton Ravers Chairman said, ‘Broughton Ravers JFC is a Charter Standard club that has consistently emphasised the importance of Respect and Fair Play. Every one of our parents, all the players and the club officials sign up to the Respect Codes of Conduct every year and our girls’ team have embraced them enthusiastically.

The girls always play to the best of their ability, they abide by the rules, never argue with the match referee and they make a point of shaking hands with the opposition and giving them three cheers at the end of every game.

They even listen to their coach sometimes!

All the girls were very excited when they heard about the award and there’s no doubt they deserve recognition for the way they play the game. Their parents deserve a big pat on the back too, for supporting the Respect campaign and the club’s policies.’

Congratulations to Broughton Ravers and Caistor Crusaders, who both receive an FA Respect plaque and a £200 cheque for their club.

Glen Harris, Lincolnshire Respect Lead Officer.
